Telegraph model including apparatus for both transmission and reception.
The terminals located on the base of the instrument are for connection with another station and with a battery that powers the circuit.
Transmission is performed using a horizontal disc on which the letters of the alphabet, the words “Attention”and “Chiffres” and the numbers 0 to 9 are engraved in separate boxes.
By means of an ivory knob an indicator may be moved from the starting point to the letter desired; the disc is connected to a toothed brass wheel placed under the base, so each movement of the pointer corresponds to the opening and closing of the circuit connected to the receiver.
The receiver is a vertical disc on which letters and numbers are engraved; a pointer, now missing, connected to the horizontal armature of the electromagnets placed on the back of the dial was rotated in the plane of the disc. Breaks in current flow in the transmitting station corresponded to movement between indicator boxes on the disc of the receiving station.
The instrument is signed by its maker, Duroni, Milano.
